Iced
Tea
This refreshing recipe is great on a hot day. Iced tea
was first created at the World Fair held in St. Louis,
USA in 1904. An Englishmen Richard Blechyden was in charge
of a tea stand at the Fair. St Louis was in the throes
of a heat wave at this time, and in order to boost sales
at his counter, Blechyden served tea over cubes of ice
to the public – creating an instant hit which, is
enjoyed by millions all over the world today. |

Prepare a good strong brew, then
strain it and add sugar, and leave to reach room
temperature. Next place the tea in a refrigerator
to cool. To serve, drop 2 or 3 ice cubes into tall
glasses and pour the chilled tea over them. Garnish
with a slice of lemon and serve. Alternatively you
could chill it without adding sugar and then add
sugar syrup to taste. |
